Range
The Malayan sun bear occurs on the Asian mainland and Sumatra.
It is named then Malayan Sun Bear because of the orange-yellow marking on its chest , which is shaped like a horseshoe. It is the smallest bear species in the world standing at 1.2-1.5m tall and weighing 27-70kg. Despite its size, it is still a dangerous animal. It is an excellent climber with large feet and long sickle shaped claws.
