This porcupine ranges from parts of eastern India and southern China, through Burma, Thailand and Indochina (Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam) to Peninsular Malaysia
The brush-tailed porcupine has a long, rat -like body covered in quills which are shorter and not as conspicuous as those on Malayan Porcupine. It also has a prominent tuft of bristles at the tip of its tail.
