The Axis Deer is often considered the most beautiful deer species. It is native to South Asia. In India it is called Chital. A medium sized deer, it has reddish-brown fur marked by white spots. Only the male has antlers, its 3 tiered antles shed and regrow each year. The Axis Deer lives in a big herd of more than 100 deer, usually led by an old doe.
