The Roseate Spoonbill is a wading bird native to North and South America. It stands about 76 cm high and has a body like a heron. It gets its name from its pink plumage and spoon-shaped beak. Its bill is perfect for scooping up and straining small aquatic animals like shrimps and other crustaccans. Like the Flamingo, the Spoonbill gets its vibrant pink hue from its food and this colour will fade if it changes its diet.
